There
was a huge step-up for the Karate Kids at this grading examination with
no fewer than ten gaining their yellow belt - an excellent achievement
at such a young age. This was followed by a healthy number of 8th, 9th
and 10th kyu promotions (black, red and yellow tags respectively) for a
mixture of novice and more experienced students.
Following the results presentation, nineteen of the 90 candidates also received a special recognition from Sensei Mair for their exceptional performance during the examination. Among them were students from all four clubs and also four sets of siblings, showing that the determination obviously runs in the family.

Their achievements
have certainly been helped by the quantity and quality of their
training since the last grading, which is also true for many of the
other children that received promotions of 2 tags or more this time.
Mair explained that "even though everyone's attitude and effort was
great today, you could really tell the difference between those who
train regularly and those who have only covered the minimum
requirements, and the results reflect this."
There is now plenty of time before the next examination in December but it is important to start that preparation as early as possible. All classes will continue during the summer and we'll be introducing plenty of variety to help our training during this time.
